she pokes the sun

until the yolk

thickens into

the saltless jelly

along the egg white

clouds. she tears the

sky against its

grains and strains

the water into rain:

heaven leaks. and

the earth spreads

herself open. revealing

her body from her

dress. imploring

the grain for wheat and

given bread instead.

and in return she pulls

her torso open from

her jaw. her teeth extend

into her ribs. the cavity

of her skin pulsating.

anxious for the harvest:

if not the colour of

her insides re-emerging

why else are leaves

green?
