Nearer, My God, To Thee (SATB)

Based on the popular hymn, this is an original arrangement with a more modern feel. I wanted the audience to really engage with the lyrics through the new harmonies and the (quite numerous) key changes.

Now this hymn is one that I've been meaning to arrange for the longest time. I especially love the lyrics and the simple melodies that make the whole song. And then bring in the harmonies. Man, it's magical. But I wanted a little more oomph. So I rearranged the song. This piece will not be the last version of the song I'll make. If I'm completely honest, this piece is more experimental. I wanted to see how I could stitch different key signatures into a more cohesive feel. I think I did a pretty good job, but that's subjective.
